Keeping in Touch with Ethan & Olivia

Quiet Weekend at Home

After having been away for almost every weekend in May, last weekend we just relaxed and stayed around the house. We had hoped to get a lot of the household chores done, but the time just seemed to fly by.

Here is Olivia outside walking with Scott.

On Saturday, Ethan's Sportball had an open house for parents to come and watch. Here is a picture of Ethan balancing a bean bag on his head!

Although she can't quite do it on her own yet, Olivia loves walking with anyone who will hold her hands, with her walker or all around the family room using the toys/couch/walls.

Ethan's favourite word these days is "why", why is it going to be sunny today? why are people outside enjoying the weather? - you get the idea. Some of the questions are already getting a little bit hard to answer, one question had Scott explaining the theory of evolution!! He also asked how babies get into mommies tummies - luckily he was somehow side tracked before I had to answer. I wasn't expecting such a question so soon! He got to feel the baby kick tonight which was interesting for him.

Here is Ethan and Olivia playing together, these days it as about as close as I am going to get of a "nice" picture of the two of them together!!
Lots of picture, little commentary...am off to bed, way past my bedtime.....

Single Motherhood

After dealing with hair that was always in her face for too long, I took Olivia to get bangs today. Here is a picture of her walking along with her new hairstyle - what a cutie!!

The picture is a bit blurry, it's hard to get an action shot, as you can see she loves walking with her walker.

During our weekend in New York, Michelle and Kevin and Nana and Wayne watched Ethan and Olivia. Ethan stayed with Nana and Wayne and Olivia stayed with Michelle and Kevin. Ethan had a great time and was very spoiled by Nana. Olivia did pretty well, she was a little bit sad on Friday night, but did well the rest of the weekend. Scott and I enjoyed shopping, dinner out and the play Chicago. It was certainly nice to get away.
The Sunday we came home was Mother's Day, so we all went out for dinner and then over to Carolyn's house to celebrate Carly's birthday. We had a nice day. I tried to get a picture of me with the kids but that seems to be almost impossible these days, Ethan really is not into getting his picture taken anymore (which is why he is underrepresented in the pictures).
Here is a picture of Ethan playing basketball with Kevin.

Here is a picture of Olivia walking around her crib!

Let me just say that being a single mother (not to mention a pregnant single mother) is a lot of work!!! Scott came home late last night from a 5 day golf trip to Alabama. So here's what we did while he was away.
On Friday, my friends Dana and Lynn came over with their four kids for dinner. With three adults and six children, even the simpliest dinners are chaotic. That being said, it was still fun, especially since Ethan doesn't get to see Charlotte and Shelby as often now that I am back to work.
On Saturday, we went to the park with Dana, Charlotte and Carson and then we headed down to St. Catharines. Ethan went to a fireworks party with Michelle, Kevin, Bailey and Casey. He had a great time, he loves fireworks!! Olivia and I went to Carolyn's house for dinner and helped Carly celebrate her birthday again - this time with her friends. Ethan didn't get home until almost midnight!
On Sunday, Bailey, Casey, Ethan and I went out for lunch and did some shopping at the local mall. Ethan got a football and some hockey sticks, which were a big hit. Bailey and Casey got some stuff animals that are attached to a computer site, which made them very happy as well. After that, Ethan, Olivia and I headed to Nana's for dinner. Ethan ended up sleeping over, while Olivia and I went back to Michelle and Kevin's to sleep.
On Monday, while almost my entire family went golfing, Ethan, Olivia and I stopped at Carolyn's for a quick visit with Carolyn and Carly before heading home. It was nice to be back home again, as it is easier to amuse the kids and I am not carrying tons of bags back and forth between places. Before bed, Ethan had fun watching some more fireworks from our bedroom window. He was very excited to have Scott coming home - he was trying to wait up to see Daddy's plane fly past his window. I finally convinced him that he could see Daddy quicker if he fell asleep.
After four nights of not sleeping, I am looking forward to hopefully getting a good night sleep tonight...This is the second time I have typed the blog, Ethan deleted the first one by mistake, so please forgive any typos...

The Walker

Here's Olivia playing in the grass tonight. (see our new van in the background)

These are of Ethan playing with his new water table. Olivia got in on the fun tonight too!! She was soaked!

This picture is not so cute, but I can't figure out how to delete in. She is usually smiling while walking!!

Since successfully undergoing the insertion of tubes last Monday, Olivia has only been interested in one thing, walking with her walker. She can't walk without it yet and can only walk on the city streets (i.e.: carpet). She isn't quite ready for the highway/hardwood yet!! The surgery went very well and she has been her usual happy self since.
Last weekend we had my law school friends over to meet Tzen and Tasha's little guy, Leo. He was adorable. I don't think I have seen such a young baby be awake and alert for so long. It was also good to see the rest of the gang, as we don't get to get together very often these days.

On Sunday, we headed down to St. Catharines to help celebrate Courtney's birthday at Papa's house. Scott stayed home, so it was quite busy for me, especially since Olivia was in a "mommy only" mood. Turns out she had an ear infection (this was the night before her surgery, so it was understanable. I am so happy that I don't have to worry about her getting ear infections as often!!
This past weekend, I went away with six of my girlfriends to a spa. We left Friday afternoon and were home around lunchtime on Sunday. It was nice to get away and relax with no kids. I was the perfect amount of time, another day would have been too long. Scott and the kids were fine and went to Michelle and Kevin's for dinner on Saturday night. There were lots of kids to entertain Ethan and he loved playing basketball with Bailey and Casey's new basketball net
This weekend Scott and I are off to New York. This will be the first time we have left the kids. I am little worried about Oliiva because she really prefers mommy and daddy these days, hopefully she will like Michelle and Nana!!
